The Boy Scouts of Troop' 97
held their troop meeting Tues-
day. March 20. The meeting was
opened with the Scout Oath.
During most of the meeting, the
two day camp was discussed.
Mr. McDonald, the scoutmaster,
told the boy* that they would
go on a 2 day camp over the Eas
ter holidays. He made out the
schedule for the camp and the
boy’s copied it down, "the scout*
will leave Thursday, March 29.

FORT WORTH (Spl.t — John
Biggs, manager of the Waggoner
Ranch. Vernon. Texas, was elect
ed president of the Texas , and
Southwestern Cattle Raisers As-
sociation at the 79th annual
meeting of the* organization at
Fort Worth March 13-14. He suc-
ceeds Roy Parks of Midland,
Texas.
Other officers elected are Ed-
gar Hudgins, Hunperford. Texas,
1st vice president; Norman Mos-
er, DeKalk, Texas, 2nd' vice
president and. Chas. A. Stewart emergency program on too# he

manager.
'Resolutions adopted at the
meeting are as follows:
That a committee of cattlemen
study the USDA system of grad-
ing careas beef in the light of
changing consumer demand and
modern technological develop-
ment.
Recommended that the gov-
ernment Initiate a program for
the purchase of beef with par-
ticular emphasis on the purchase
of beef produced lit drouth dis-
aster areas. Also, that the soil
conservation program in drouth
stricken areas be operated on a
plan that would not require
liberalized and expanded to in-
clude high protein feeds. Also
that a liberal and practical pro-
gram for long term financing for
those engaged lq -lgrlculture in'
the drouth areas be developed
by the government ' ,
That a committee be appointed
to represent the Association In
the proposed Texas Agricultural
Water Committee and that the
Association support the principle
of riparian rights to water and
upstream flood prevention.
Recommended to Congress {that
farm lands retired from farm
production under the provisions of
the "Soil Bank ActH not be used
for the production of cattle and
the soil owner to match thwJtBat penalties be included in
government's contribution for ap-
proved practices and that the
the law to assure that the un-
used crop land will not he used
