Chris Thomas’ Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings for Week 16 (2024)

This year more than ever it has been difficult to make decisions about fantasy football lineups because of injuries, byes, and Covid-19 concerns. This week is fantasy week. Owners may have a few wide receivers on their roster that they have been flipping between all season. Deciding between them could be the difference between winning and losing. For owners who have to stream a wide receiver this week, it may be difficult to choose who to put into your lineup.

Here are my wide receiver rankings for Week 16 of the 2020 NFL Season.

Key:

Must Start- a player who is in your lineup regardless of the matchup or most circ*mstances. They Will likely finish near the top of the league in points that week and in most weeks.

Starting WR1- a player who makes fantasy owners comfortable starting week after week. Regardless of the matchup, this player has a high floor.

High WR2- a player who may isn’t likely to carry a lineup that week, but has the ability to have a breakout game and is teetering between WR1 and WR2 category.

Starting WR2-a player who should be started in most lineups and should reach their point projection. This player is started is because of their consistency and moderately high floor

Low WR2- a player who may not be a lock to start for a team every week, but will start more times than not. Their production may not be pretty or win a person their lineup but the production is consistent enough to make a fantasy owner comfortable starting them.

Flex- a player who could float around the territory of being benched, but is started due to the potential to play better than their point projection. However, this player has the potential to flop and cause a fantasy team to lose if he has a bad game.

Deeper League Flex- a player who has starting value in deeper leagues. There are enough reasons to leave this player on the bench, but their upside makes them an attractive option. Desperate times may call for a player like this to be inserted into starting lineups.

Upside Player- a player who is boom or bust. This player can exceed expectations in a given week or could flop and be the reason why someone lost their fantasy matchup.

Leave on the Bench- a player who should be avoided in all lineups that week. Many times this player could even be left on waivers.

Possible Changes that can occur before Sunday

WR7 Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

Despite playing last week Keenan Allen did not look 100% healthy after sustaining a hamstring injury. Allen is a game-time decision. If he was to miss the game Mike Williams would move up to WR31 between CeeDee Lamb and T.Y. Hilton. Jalen Guyton would move up to WR50 between Denzel Mims and Tyler Boyd. Also, Tyron Johnson would be an intriguing name to keep an eye on.

WR17 Terry McLaurin, Washington Football Team

After missing practice, both Wednesday and Thursday Terry McLaurin is doubtful for this weekend’s game against the Carolina Panthers. If he cannot go Cam Sims is a sleeper play in deeper leagues as a flex.

WR28 Devante Parker, Miami Dolphins

Devante Parker missed last week’s game against the New England Patriots with a hamstring injury. If Parker misses this week as well Lynn Bowden Jr. would move up to WR36 between Curtis Samuel and Tim Patrick. Jakeem Grant would become WR54 between Kendrick Bourne and Allen Lazard.

WR48 Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers

Last Thursday Mike Williams also played despite having a back injury. It is uncertain whether Williams will play or not and if he does if he will be limited like the week before. If Williams doesn’t play Jalen Guyton will become WR53 between Michael Gallup and Kendrick Bourne. Tyron Johnson would jump on fantasy radars as well if Williams misses.

WR51 Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals

Tyler Boyd left last week’s game early with a concussion. So far he has not practiced this week. If Boyd misses A.J. Green will jump to WR48 between Mike Willams and Jalen Reagor.

WR69 Jakeem Grant, Miami Dolphins

Despite being listed as questionable Jakeem Grant is expected to play this week against the Raiders. If he doesn’t expect Devante Parker and Lynn Bowden Jr. to get more targets in the passing game.
